This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Burhanuddin Ezzy ("we," "us," "our") collects through deckle.studio (the "Site") and the Deckle application, why we collect it, and how it's handled.

1. What We Collect

When you purchase Deckle, we collect:

• Your name and email address, to process your order and deliver your license key.
• Your country, which we use for tax and invoicing purposes.
• Payment information: this is collected and processed directly by our payment processors, Stripe and Paddle. We do not receive or store your full card number.

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.

Deckle the desktop application itself does not transmit your manuscript, writing, or project files to us. Your work is stored locally on your device; the App only communicates with our servers to activate and validate your license.

2. How We Use It

We use the information above to:

• Process your purchase and deliver your license key.
• Provide customer support.
• Comply with tax and accounting obligations.
• Communicate important updates about your purchase (e.g. licensing changes).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or third-party marketing.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

To operate the Site and deliver Deckle, we rely on a small number of third-party service providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf:

• WooCommerce / WordPress: powers our online store and order management.
• Stripe and Paddle: process payments and, in Paddle's case, act as merchant of record for tax/VAT handling. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle your payment data.
• License Manager for WooCommerce: generates and manages license keys tied to your order.
• Cloudflare: stores and delivers license key data so the Deckle app can validate your license.
• Google Fonts: the Site loads typefaces from Google's font service, which may log IP addresses as part of standard web requests.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking scripts on the Site.

4. Cookies

The Site uses only the cookies necessary for shopping cart and checkout functionality (via WooCommerce). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

5. Data Retention

We retain order and license information for as long as necessary to provide support, honor your license, and meet our legal and tax obligations.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.

• If you're in Canada, these rights are provided under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You can contact us directly, or, if unresolved, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
• If you're in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing.
• If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we hold and to request its deletion.

7. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (e.g. Stripe, Paddle, Cloudflare) may process data outside of Canada. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' own compliance safeguards for cross-border data transfer.

8. Children's Privacy

Deckle and the Site are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
