Windows, macOS, and Linux are available now. Android and iOS are on the roadmap.
Note: One license activates on up to 2 devices, independent of OS. Mix and match Windows, macOS, or Linux. Need to swap a machine? Just deactivate on one and reactivate on another, anytime.

1
Install and activate
Download the installer above and run it. On first launch, paste your license key exactly as sent, no extra spaces. Just purchased or don't see the email yet? Check spam, give it a few minutes to register, then email hello@deckle.studio if it's still not working.
You may see a blue "Windows protected your PC" SmartScreen screen. Click More info → Run anyway. Normal for new software without a long Microsoft install history yet.
Open the .dmg and drag Deckle into Applications. Always launch it from there, not the DMG, so auto-updates work. If macOS blocks it as unverified, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway (one-time).
2
Take the in-app tour
Once Deckle is open, you'll see a "Walk me through Deckle" button on the welcome screen.
Click it for a guided tour: it takes about five minutes and covers everything you need to start your first project.
3
Already have a Scrivener project?
Deckle imports a Scrivener project directly: chapters, scenes, synopses, notes, and research all come with it in one step, no rebuilding by hand.
4
Updates happen automatically
Deckle checks for updates in the background. When one is ready, you'll see a prompt inside the app.
All future updates are included, forever.
Your project is saved as a folder on your machine: you choose where when you create it. Back it up by copying the folder anywhere you like.

You're using early access software.
Deckle is in active development, so you may occasionally hit a rough edge. Every bug report and piece of feedback makes the next version better. We ship updates regularly.
